| I'd like to have a shed and fence built on my property. Do I need HOA approval? | Yes. All requests for exterior home improvement must be submitted in writing to the HOA prior to the start of the project. The HOA will respond with an approval or disapproval within 30 days. You can send postmail to the address provided on the Contact Us page, or email to: architecture@svhoa.org. | | I am buying a house or have a client buying a house in the SVHOA, how do I get the needed HOA paperwork? | Please contact the HOA through any of the methods listed on the Contact Us page on this site. We will assemble a packet for you and make arrangements for delivery. Remember EVERY home must have its own information packet and the HOA charges $65 for each packet. It includes copies of the Covenenants, By-Laws for the SV HOA corporation, the latest financial reports, and certification of the current dues owed or paid on the property you are buying. It also includes any other documents as required by the Virginia Property Owners Association Act. | | Does the HOA handle snow removal? | No, the SVHOA does not handle snow removal for the development. If you have comments or questions regarding snow removal, please contact the Virginia Department of Transportation. | | Do I have to pay dues or can I elect to NOT be a member of the SV HOA? | If your house is within the Sovereign Village sub-division, then your property is part of the SV HOA. This is specified in the Deed of Dedication that runs with the property you purchased and should have been disclosed to you when you purchased your home. You MUST pay yearly dues that are established by the majority of the homeowners in the HOA. If you feel you were not infomed then you should seek recourse with the real estate agents or whoever you purchased your home from. However, you still have to pay yearly dues. | | What do the yearly dues pay for? | Primarily they pay for street lights throughout the neighborhood. Another large portion of the dues go towards the upkeep of the common grounds that all members in good standing of the HOA co-own. There are various other items all of which are defined under the Finances section of this website. |
