We were able to achieve quorum at our 2nd call for the Annual Community meeting held ad the corner of Rossman and Wayfaring on October 31st, 2009. Thank you to everyone who came out and validated your votes and voted for the new board members. All resolutions on the ballot passed and both nominated board members are now serving on the SV HOA Board of Directors. Please welcome Rachel Daly and Jewell Tolliver to your board of directors!

Also passed were the SV HOA By-Law amendments. These included moving the Annual Community Meeting to the First Saturday of October, lowering our quorum requirements so that we can hopefully hold elections in the future on the 1st meeting and not have to call a 2nd meeting, and approval was given to replace the "overeign Village" letters on our sign.

We did NOT make the 60 home quorum needed to certify our votes at the Annual Community Meeting, we only had 44 homes represented. We will need to have a second meeting now. The second meeting will be at 203 Wayfaring Drive in Barbara's garage on Halloween between 6pm and 7pm. Please stop by and sign-in to certify the votes received. You can view the Annual Community Meeting notes in the Forms & Downloads section of the website. Many thanks to those homeowners who did attend the annual meeting this time, and please remember to drop by on Halloween and sign in even if you did come today.

Please join us Saturday October 10th at 2pm at the Sovereign Village Recreation Center & Pool (in our community at the corner of Rossman and Famington) for our Annual Community Meeting. All members of the HOA who are fully paid up on their dues are strongly encouraged to attend. We have annual elections and are voting on changing the bylaws for the HOA in a couple of areas that we've found unworkable over the past years.

A very big thank you to Heather for arranging for the community party and to Kirk and Rob for cooking the hamburgers and hot dogs for everyone! We didn't have nearly as many folks this year as we did last year, but hopefully those that were able to make it enjoyed seeing their neighbors and spending a little time together!

Please join your neighbors for the Sovereign Village HOA Community Party on Sat, August 29, 5pm – 8pm at the new Pool and Recreation Center. Manning & Ross has graciously allowed us to hold the community party at the Rec Center for this year. You should have received a flier on your mailbox in the past couple of days.

Please consider a donation of $5 per family to cover the cost of the hot dogs and hamburgers that are being provided. Please bring a side dish or dessert to share and beverages for at least your own family.

Please RSVP to social@svhoa.org if you plan on attending with the number of people in your household you'll be bringing along.

The HOA is NOT responsible for the swimming pool or recreation center. There are forms that M&R asked us to host here on our website, but that is the only involvement the HOA has in the facility at this time.

We're going to go ahead and go live with the new website right away, if you're seeing this message, it worked! We still need to fill in some information that we'd like on the pages, but we already have more information than was previously available on the old website as is. We do ask that you excuse our dust as we continue to edit and refine the website.

We'd like to add some discussion forums for our community, but currently there isn't a good (easy) solution to use with Google Sites. If one becomes available, we'll investigate. We can also look at hosting discussion forums off-site from Google Sites, if there is enough interest. The idea would be have a place for General Neighborhood Discussion, Social Clubs & Game Events, For Sale/Wanted, Services Offered/Needed, and Homework Help. If you think the discussion forums are a good idea and something you would use, please drop an email to webmaster@svhoa.org and let us know. If there is enough interest, we'll make it happen!

As you may have noticed Manning & Ross has opened the Swimming Pool & Recreation Center within Sovereign Village. You should direct all inquiries about the Pool & Rec Center to Manning & Ross. In the Forms & Downloads section you can find minutes from the Community Meeting that Manning & Ross held at the end of June that contains information you may find useful. Also in the Forms & Downloads section you will find two documents that Manning & Ross asked us to host on the SV HOA Website for easy distribution.

It should be noted that the SV HOA is NOT responsible for the Pool & Rec Center in any way. We, as in the entire SV HOA, have the option on January 1, 2011 to decide if we would like the Pool & Rec Center turned over to the SV HOA at that time. It is expected that the SV HOA Board who is in place at that time will present all known operating costs and liabilities in operating the pool to the members of the HOA and there will be a vote as to whether it will be accepted, or if Manning & Ross should see other avenues for the continued operation of the pool.

We're working on using Google Sites for the SV HOA Website. This will allow faster updates and more current information to be distributed to the SV HOA members.
